Rapper claims his not gang connected after Shane Jerome killed at music video shoot

I had the chance to clarify a few details in relation to the death of Shane Jerome.

The music video shoot he was attending was for rapper “reefy” who has now spoken out.

The artists name is “Reefy the peacemaker” and he was filming a new music video for a song in Brixton before the attack took place.

He explains his not gang connected and did not know Shane personally.

Shane was just at the shoot on his bike as a stunt rider.

Reefy goes on to add his family was present and his little brother and mother.

And he would never have invited people if he thought that would happen.

He said he will remember this night forever and they were there as one, doing something positive.

This senseless violence needs to stop.

People came out of nowhere and attacked him.

To Shane’s family and friends he said he was sorry this has happened.

His heart goes out to them and he wishes things could have been different.

He then states he has no other information on the events.

Reefy is a “trap wave” singer and isn’t a drill rapper.

His music is based on life and living it to the full.

He doesn’t throw up gang signs in any videos and doesn’t represent any block.

Girlfriend of Shane

The girlfriend of a young “stuntman” who was stabbed to death while filming a music video in south London said her “heart is torn in two”.

Seleka Gathercole paid tribute to her boyfriend Shane Jerome, 23, who was attacked near Brixton underground station on Wednesday evening.

She shared some photos of the couple in happier times, including their tattoos with each other’s names.

Seleka wrote on Facebook: “My baby. My heart’s completely torn in two.

“I will never ever ever get over the loss of you, you mean more to me than I could ever explain, I’m struggling to even cope.”

She added: “Please no one contact me I want my space.”

The murder

A witness said that while a video was being filmed on the high street, a fight suddenly erupted between two groups.

One man told the BBC there was a “convoy of cars and quad bikes suddenly turn on one another”.

“The man who was stabbed was lying in the middle of the road, with an ambulance on scene instantly, where the man was receiving CPR right away but looked lifeless,” he continued.

“I thought they were play-acting or something, but then I saw the blood trickling down the road.”

He added: “It’s almost as though there was a delay and then he suddenly realised he’d been stabbed.”

Paramedics were called to the scene and tried to save Shane’s life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene about 30 minutes later.

A 19-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm has since been released with no further action to be taken against him.

Brixton underground

Mr Jerome’s family are being supported by specialist Met Police officers as the investigation into the fatal stabbing continues.

One of his friends described Shane as “one of the best guys”.

A pal said: “Rest in perfect peace to one of the best guys I knew. Was always there just a phone call away, forever and always in my heart.

Another added: “I am speechless, I can’t believe you’re gone, you were so loved and respected by everyone and even though we can no longer see you, you will always be in every single person’s heart.”

Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn said: “Brixton Road near to the Tube station is a busy area of London and there were many people in the street, on buses and in cars at the time.

Onlookers watched on in horror as the victim – named by friends as Shane Jerome – was treated by ambulance staff following the brutal attack on Wednesday evening.

He is the said to have been seen clutching his chest and climbed into the emergency vehicle himself before re-emerging and collapsing to the ground.

As the video was being shot on the high street, involving a red Ferrari, a lime green Lamborghini and quad bikes, a fight suddenly erupted between two groups, a witness said.

The Met Police has confirmed a man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The force was called at 8.18pm, with officers having helped in the desperate bid to save the patient.

Died at the scene

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were at the scene, but the man was sadly pronounced dead at around 8.45pm.

“The man who was stabbed was lying in the middle of the road, with an ambulance on scene instantly, where the man was receiving CPR right away but looked lifeless,” he continued.

“I thought they were play-acting or something, but then I saw the blood trickling down the road.”

“It’s almost as though there was a delay and then he suddenly realised he’d been stabbed,” he added.

Tributes have since flooded in across social media, with the victim understood to have been from Croydon and in his early 20s.

A picture has been circulating online showing Shane – who also worked as a scaffolder – on a blue motorbike, the same one believed to have been left abandoned at the scene of the incident.

Seleka Gathercole – thought to have been his girlfriend – described in a Facebook post this morning how “my heart’s completely torn in two”.

She included photos of the pair together, including some where he is showing off a tattoo of her name.

“Rest in perfect peace to one of the best guys I knew,” another friend said in a social media post. “Was always there just a phone call away, forever and always in my heart.”

The local community has been left reeling from last night’s violence, with one woman posting an emotional plea online.

In the short clip Lorraine Jones described the harrowing reality of the situation that had left “someone’s son dead”.

A special bike ride took place to celebrate the life of Shane and his love of bikes.

Dozens rode threw London in memory of the scaffolder from Thornton Heath.
