Man stabbed to death outside Heath town Asda

Scarcity broke the story last night and has exclusive footage from the scene where a man was stabbed to death outside Asda.

Locals claim there was a disturbance and shouting and males fighting before police arrived.

A large cordon is in place and forensics were at work alongside police searching bushes.

Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a man in his 40s was killed last night (6 September).

The man was stabbed several times in the stomach during a fight at a car park on Wolverhampton Road in Heath Town just after 9pm.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff who took him to hospital, the man sadly died a short time later.

The suspect, who had left the car park, was later located by officers on Old Heath Road and arrested. He had a stab wound to his arm and was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been released and taken into our custody.

We’re carrying out a forensic analysis of the scene, examining CCTV and have been speaking to witnesses.

Detective Inspector Adam Jobson, from our homicide team, said: “This was a very sad turn of events and my thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“Our officers have worked through the night and this morning to seize CCTV, speak to witnesses and gather intelligence. This led to an arrest on a street nearby.

“An incident like this can be unsettling for the local community, and I would like to reassure them that uniform officers will be patrolling the area and the public can speak to them about any concerns they may have.”

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a stabbing on Wolverhampton Road at 9.16pm. One ambulance, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor attended the scene.

On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was in a critical condition.

He received specialist trauma care at the scene before being taken to hospital on blue lights and sirens.”
