William Doleman (11/03/1994) of Rossington Street, Newton Heath has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years today (Friday 5 November) at Manchester Crown Court (Crown Square) for the murder of 39 year old Alan Murphy back in February of this year.
Grant Doleman (04/10/95) of Mitchell Street, Newton Heath has been jailed for 12 months for perverting the course of justice.
Lisa Hough (12/10/1977) of Blandford Drive, has also been jailed for three and a half years, for assisting an offender.
Just before 5am on Thursday 18 February 2021, officers were called to an address on Whitstable Road in Moston to reports a man had been stabbed.
Following a telephone call between them, Doleman met Alan that morning. It appears they had been in a dispute over Doleman’s ex-partner, Lisa Hough, who Alan had started a relationship with.
A fight ensued on Teddington Drive, involving Alan and Doleman, during which Alan was fatally injured.
Emergency services attended Alan’s home address a short time later, and took him to hospital in a critical condition with multiple stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died shortly after 11am on the same day.
Doleman and a friend then returned to Lisa Clough’s address on Blandford Drive, where Clough provided an exchange of clothes so that blood stained items could be disposed of. She also cleaned up any blood from the house, prior to police arrival.
Doleman and his friend then attended his brother, Grant Doleman’s home address on Mitchell Street, Newton Heath, where he remained until the following day. Grant Doleman later went on to provide a false statement to police.
William Doleman was arrested Friday 19 February, and found guilty by jury on Wednesday 20 October at Manchester Crown Court (Crown Square).
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Wilkinson of GMP’s Major Incident Team said:
“Our thoughts still very much remain with Alan’s family, as they continue to come to terms with the devastating loss of a loved one. I hope that this sentencing result brings them some level of satisfaction that justice has been done.”
“I am pleased that Doleman has been handed substantial sentences for their crimes. This was an horrific and violent assault, and we have been committed throughout this investigation to ensuring those responsible for Alan’s death, were held accountable for their actions.”
