Mainz (23 Drillas) killed in Erdington stabbing

Scarcity can confirm the 25 year old stabbed to death in Erdington on Monday is rapper “Mainzace” from “23 Drillas. The artist was a founding member of the Birmingham drill group that came to fame in 2016. The song titled “23 drillas” was release on P110 media and Mainz did the melodic hook that became a anthem for the group at the time. The song featured Smuggzy ace and Ojay who would both later serve time in prison for gang related offences. They would follow this up with “love no thot'” which was a play on the old classic “no scrubs” by TLC.

He experimented with afro beat style productions that suited his deep tones and would go on to become popular sub genre in UK music in the years that followed. He did a song called “stuck in the dark” part 1 and 2 on Grm daily and his song Alpo featured samples from “Paid in Full” and the song depicts the brutality of the streets and how easy it is to get killed on the streets. He reflects on the rules he has lived by and his lack of trust in others He makes reference to Allah in his music and his understanding of life and death. In stuck in the dark he talks on his motivations to make money as younger and how he became involved in the lifestyle he spoke on. He was a strong believer in loyalty which was a constant in his music.

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after another man was stabbed in Erdington. A 25-year-old was discovered with serious injuries in Chudleigh Road at around 4.15pm yesterday (29 November). He was rushed to hospital but sadly died a short time after his arrival. An 18-year-old man was arrested in the Erdington area on suspicion of murder. He is currently in custody for questioning. A cordon remains in place near the junction of Reservoir Road this morning while we investigate what happened and why. Detective Inspector Wes Martin, from our homicide unit, said: “A young man has tragically lost his life and we’re doing all we can to support his family at this awful time. “We’ve made some quick progress by arresting a suspect on suspicion of murder. However, we remain keen to hear from anyone who may have information. Anyone who may be able to help us needs to contact us.”We’re reviewing all CCTV possibilities and we’re asking people in the area to check any dashcam or doorbell footage which can help us fully establish what has happened during this terrible incident.”
