Man charged with shooting 13 year old in Birmingham & 3 more arrests

One 19 year old man has been charged with attempted murder after a 13-year-old boy was injured during a shooting in Hockley Circus, Birmingham on 18 November. Zidann Edwards of Ford Street, Birmingham was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon. The 19-year-old will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today (15 December). Two 17-year-old boys and a 20-year-old man who were previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remain on police bail as our enquiries continue.  

A fourth person has been arrested after a teenager was shot in Birmingham last month. The 13-year-old boy suffered life changing injuries when he was shot in Hockley Circus just before 7pm on 18 November.Yesterday evening (13 December) officers arrested a 19-year-old man after firearms officers used tyre deflation rounds to stop a car on Bearwood Road, Bearwood. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody where he’s being questioned by detectives working on the case.Two 17-year-old boys and a 20-year-old man who were previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder remain on police bail as our enquiries continue. We know the offenders were in a black SUV type vehicle that was seen near the goods entrance of Travis Perkins building supplies on Soho Hill shortly before the attack. The victim is understood to have been chased into the underpass of Hockley Circus, where he was left with life-changing injuries after being shot in the back. He’s still recovering from his injuries.It is believed the offenders then returned to the black SUV and left the scene.Detectives are continuing to appeal for information. This is a busy area and we know lots of people were around at the time – some have been in touch already.
