A teenager will appear in court after a stabbing incident in Birmingham following a street ‘fight’.
Police were called to ‘large disorder’ involving youths in Alum Rock Road, at the junction of Treaford Lane shortly before 3.30pm on Thursday (February 17).
A 14-year-old boy suffered stab wounds following a fight and a 13-year-old was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Now a teenager aged 13 has been charged with wounding and possession of a knife and is set to appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (February 19).
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested three hours after the stabbing.
Police said they were still appearing for witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “A 13-year-old will appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday 19 February), charged with wounding and possession of a knife.
“The boy, who cannot be named because he is under 18, was arrested on Thursday, three hours after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed on Alum Rock Road, Saltley. Thankfully, his injuries were not life-threatening.”
