2 men shot in the face at Birmingham petrol station

Police are hunting gunmen after two men were shot and injured at a city petrol station. The victims were sat in a car at the junction of Gillott Road and Icknield Road in Ladywood when they came under fire at 12.30am today (April 8).

The men, aged 18 and 20, suffered serious facial injuries which are not said to be life threatening. The scene was sealed off while the police conducted their enquiries.

The road had re-opened on Friday morning. Police are trawling through CCTV to identify the gunmen and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them urgently.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after two men in a car were shot in Icknield Port Road this morning (8 April). The pair, aged 18 and 20, were at a petrol station near the junction of Gillott Road when shots were fired at around 12.30am. 

“They’re in hospital with serious facial injuries although they’re not believed to be life-threatening. “We’re carrying out CCTV enquiries as we seek to establish who was involved.

A spokeswoman from West Midlands Ambulance Service: “We were called at 00.36 to reports of an incident on Icknield Port Road in Birmingham. Prior to our arrival, we were stood down as our assistance was no longer required.”
