Woman stabbed by 15 year old schoolboy in Norwood

A terrifying video is being shared on social media which appears to show a boy dressed in his school uniform repeatedly stabbing a woman as she lies helpless on the floor. The “knife attack” takes place in front of a huge crowd of screaming children who are making their way home from school.

A physical altercation appears to break out between the woman and the schoolboy in South Norwood, in Croydon, yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, May 10). At first, the two seem to have been separated by a passer-by but then the woman appears to swipe at the boy’s face.

The video then seems to show her being pushed to the ground by a different schoolboy. The schoolboy she had been in the initial confrontation with then appears to pull out a blade and lunges at the woman. He appears to swipe at her five times before being dragged away by onlookers and restrained against a wall.

In the video, two girls also appear to throw drinks over the woman.

The Met Police have confirmed that a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) after a woman in her 40s was stabbed. Police were called to the scene, in Grosvenor Road, at 4.35pm yesterday following reports of an “altercation” between a woman and a group of kids.

Police and London Ambulance Service paramedics were called to the scene, where they found a woman, in her 40s, suffering from a stab wound. Her injury was not considered to be life threatening. The boy remains in custody, and enquiries are ongoing.

“We understand the concern that will spread through our communities in relation to this horribly violent incident and would like to reassure parents and local residents that enhanced, highly visible patrols will take place at the end of the school day to reassure pupils, their parents and the wider community. We continue to work closely with the local school and to support the victim.“
