Armed police rushed to a city shooting on a residential street last night. Witnesses described hearing up to eight gunshots from “two masked men on a motorbike.”

The gunshots were heard on Dawberry Road, Kings Norton, at about 8.15pm yesterday, Sunday, July 17. Police said damage was caused to a car, although no-one is known to have been injured.

One witness, who asked not to be named, told BirminghamLive: “I heard a loud sound repeatedly thinking it was fireworks. I saw two guys on a motorbike shooting.

They were dressed in black with balaclavas and had a black motorbike. And then they disappeared after about six to eight gunshots.

“Police were called, the armed police came and the road was cordoned off. Forensics came and did their job and two cars were taken away by recovery vehicles.”

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We’re investigating after gun shots were fired in Dawberry Road, Kings Norton, at around 8.15pm yesterday (17 July). Damage was caused to a car although no-one is known to have been injured.
