3 injured after Neasden drive by shooting

One teenager and two men were shot in North West London last night (Monday, August 15). Two remain in a serious condition following the incident. The gunman has not yet been caught by police. Met Police firearms officers rushed to the scene in Brent just after 7pm following reports that a person had been shot. Met Police were called to Dog Lane, where a 17-year-old was found, and London Ambulance Service were called to Balnacraig Avenue where the shooting is believed to have happened.

Officers found a 17-year-old at the scene with a gunshot wound and two more victims, one man aged 21 and another man believed to be in his early 20s, were also found nearby to the scene in Neasden. Police provided emergency first aid to the victims until the arrival of paramedics. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said ““We were called at 7.04pm last night (15 August) to reports of a shooting in Balnacraig Avenue, Neasden. We sent three ambulance crews, two paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated three patients at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre as a priority.” All the three men were rushed to hospital. The man in his early 20s is in serious but stable condition, and the 21-year-old has potentially ‘life-changing’ injuries. The 17-year-old’s injuries have been assessed as non-life changing.

The shooter fled the scene before police arrived and there have not been yet been any arrests. Police have opened up an investigation into the incident. The man who told the PA news agency: “The first man was shot in the stomach and the other two ran away.

“The two running away were shot at. One of them was hit in the arm and the other in the leg. They kept running but fell once they got to the path.” PA also reported that CCTV footage from a house on the street showed one of the victims as he walked from Brendon Avenue to Dog Lane shortly after 7pm on Monday.

The man, who was dressed in grey, was seen holding his stomach as he staggered outside M.C.’s Convenience Store before waving down a police van. Two police officers then helped the man to the ground before attending to him as he lay down. The resident told PA News Agency: “The gangs and the violence have been getting worse.

“Things used to only happen at night but now it’s happening earlier.”

MPS Brent have confirmed that a section 60, which allows police officers to stop and search anyone in the area without the need to have reasonable grounds, will be put in place between 5pm today until 5am tomorrow morning. 

In a tweet, they wrote: “A S60 authority has been granted by Inspector Hinson, covering Stonebridge Ward, Dollis Hill Ward and part of Welsh Harp Ward. This will be in place from 1700 to 0500 and is due to an incident of serious violence that occurred yesterday.”

A number of police officers can be seen on their hands and knees to gather evidence. 

There are also officers standing guard either side of the cordon.

A new picture has emerged of a man collapsed on the ground on Dog Lane, believed to be the 17-year-old victim of a shooting in Neasden last night.

The man is wrapped in foil as emergency services attend to his condition. An onlooker told PA that they had seen the man ‘staggering along the road’ before he collapsed
