The body of a man has tragically been pulled from a canal in the Black Country earlier today. Paramedics were called to Wolverhampton Road in Oldbury shortly before 10am this morning, January 19, after receiving reports of a person in the water.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said a male patient was discovered but it “quickly became apparent” that nothing could be done to save him. He was then confirmed dead at the scene.
An ambulance spokesperson said “We were called to reports of a patient in the water near to Wolverhampton Road at 9.57am. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a Hazardous Area Response Team paramedic attended the scene.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police added: “The body of a man was found by a passer-by in the canal in Langley just before 10am this morning. His death is not currently being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the coroner in due course.”
