A man has been charged with a dangerous dog offences following an incident in Tower Hamlets.
Louie Turnbull, 46 (13.06.76) of no fixed address was charged on Tuesday, 9 May with:
– Being the person/owner of a dog that was dangerously out of control;
– Being in possession/custody of a dog whilst disqualified from owning or keeping a dog.
Turnbull appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court the same day. We await an outcome from this court appearance.
The charges follow a call to police just after 17:00hrs on Sunday, 7 May, to reports of a woman being attacked by a dog in Commercial Road, E14.
Officers located a woman who reported two dogs had attacked her dog.
She had also suffered an injury to her leg during the incident. She did not require hospital treatment.
Both dogs were destroyed by police at the scene.
The owner of the dogs was arrested at the scene. Police Taser was discharged. He was taken into custody and was later charged as above.
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have conducted a thorough review of the incident, including all of the available body worn footage, and are satisfied that there are no concerns around officer conduct.
absolutely disgusting makes me sick!!! police do not have the skills needed to deal with dogs, or the skills to handle dogs in a frightened state and should be trained properly to deal with dogs. I myself have seen police treat other dogs like this and when animal abuse is reported about police officers nothing happens.

I have dogs and the dogs just barked at the police he had no wright at all the shoot the first dog the second dog was just scared and went to its owner they should be procecuted for miconduct and never let have any kind of wepon to in charge of
The footage that hadn’t been edited that I watched before it was taken down clearly shows the first poor dog lunge at the police because of their actions of the owner there’s a reason that he had been given a lifetime ban from owning dogs!! Those poor souls didn’t deserve to be killed and police need to be trained in other ways to respond in future but the deaths lie firmly at the owners feet
Of course, the dogs come to bark to the police they’re scared. That video what I saw earlier on is “heartbroken” to watch. It’s utterly embarrassing how that situation has handed and that guy should be ashamed of himself for acting the way he did.
