2 arrests after submachine gun found in Birmingham car

Birmingham police have arrested two men after recovering a submachine gun from a car in Birmingham.

The potentially lethal weapon was seized from Aldridge Road, Perry Barr, after we acted on information.

Following enquiries into the discovery on Friday evening (2 June) we’ve since arrested two men, both aged 21, on suspicion of possessing a firearm. They remain in police custody for questioning.

The recovery means we’ve taken another potentially dangerous weapon off the streets as part of our ongoing work to reduce gun crime.

It comes after we’ve launched Operation Target, which sees us take a defiant stand against a range of serious and organised crime offences.
