Teen charged with knife murder after man stabbed in Hockley

Police have confirmed that a man has been charged with murder following a reported fatal stabbing in Birmingham earlier this week. Emergency services say the incident took place in Hunters Road in Hockley shortly after 8pm on Monday, June 12, with a 41-year-old confirmed dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.

West Midlands Police has confirmed the victim’s name as Hazim Al Bajouri and added that Cyle Crowley, 18, has been charged with his murder. Khalil Henriques, aged 23, has also been charged with assisting an offender.

They have both been remanded to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today, June 15. The force adds that two men, aged 43 and 21, and a 37-year-old woman, have been bailed for further enquires in relation to assisting an offender.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson previously said: “We were called to reports of a stabbing on Hunters Road at 8.02pm on Monday night. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and the West Midlands Care Team were sent to the scene.

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering specialist trauma care but, sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Police officers remained at the scene of the reported stabbing on Wednesday, June 14, as further forensic work was carried out. Det Insp Michelle Thurgood previously said: “We are making good progress as we work hard to establish exactly what happened and why.”
