Tributes have been paid after the shocking news has emerged that Hip hop,grime and bassline artist Bomma B aka Josiah Bogle has passed away.
His family made the announcement on social media and fans have been left devastated by the revelation.
The details of his death have not been disclosed and his family need time to grieve and speak in their own time.
Any track or set Bomma B featured on was guaranteed to be explosive, his unique cadence and dominance of any beat allowed him to create flows and spit bars that left DJs little choice but to give him wheels up. Bomma was a renowned UK rap artist and Grime MC from Birmingham who suddenly passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023. His passionate fan base and the music industry both left heartbroken at the news of his sudden passing, leaving many saddened. Bomma B’s distinctive sound and undeniable talent have helped him establish himself in the UK music industry. Artist’s like P Money, Jaykae and his cousin Big dog Yogo have all paid respects. His friends described him as one of the friendliest and most clean hearted men they had ever known. Everyone he dealt with was affected by his passing.
His music originated in the “Concrete jungle” estate of Smethwick,Birmingham and it struck a chord with listeners nationwide and later worldwide, resulting in a devoted fan base. His contributions to the Grime genre were highly regarded, and he was hailed for his energetic performances.
But Bomma B first got the attention of the Bassline scene back in 2007 with his club banger “stop with the noise” produced by DJ Pantha. The track instantly brought Bomma bookings, collaborations and compilation credits with Trcs remix of the track making it onto the ministry of sound sounds of Bassline. After gaining recognition from his first Bassline hit, he made the decision to focus on the Genre, this then lead to his collaboration with Bassboy on his next club smash in early 2008 “shut up star”. This track featured Bomma alongside members of his crew Bully boyz.
Over 13 years ago he was part of music collective “Brum Town Bullyz” and collaborated with artists like Trilla, President T, Safone,Mayhem,Deadly,Bassboy and many more in his long career spanning over 15 years. He would later also be part of “Grime Squad” and “Bomb Squad”.
In 2012 he took part in a “best in brum clash” with Jaykae and Dapz on the map, the Mcs went bar for bar in the warm up session on Wordonroadtv. This inspired a generation of Grime mcs to follow in their footsteps. Bomma even turned up to Rainbow nightclub in Digbeth to clash Invasion crew members, on his own.
In 2015 he took the Birmingham sound to the BBC with midlands crew, StayFresh he performed in the 1xtra studios on the Gimme Grime session for Dj Cameo.
He also the same year featured on the Birmingham anthem “she wants a man from Brum” featuring Trilla,Safone and PRessure with visuals By: AshOnCam | Directed By: Safone | Produced By: Preditah and featured on the Madone music youtube channel.
Bomma B also made an appearance when Redbull music came to Birmingham and performed on a cypher.
He would follow this up with the legendary “Eskimo Dance” in Leeds where himself, Safone and Stayfresh shut down the show.
Throughout his career he would work closely with Madone Music with some of his behind the scenes footage on their youtube channel.
In 2020 he found success with Gemma Fox and Shaun Fox on the song “Boxers” and the bassline hit “ya fool” featuring Trilla and Kdot.
Later on Bomma would develop his passion for dogs and become a registered breeder of XL Bullies, he would also open a shop selling raw dog food and travel to dog festivals across the country.
He discussed in 2023 on the Sinners podcast that he opened the store in 2020 and soon after opened a second store due to popular demand.
The impact Bomma had one so many genres of music has cemented his name into Birmingham music history.
His sound and stage presence can never be replicated and his journey is one that should motivate everyone to make the most of every day we have here and to make your dreams a reality.
