£1 million in cannabis found in Wolverhampton industrial unit

Police have a man in custody today after seizing more than 1,000 cannabis plants from an industrial unit in Wolverhampton.

Officers moved in on the unit in Colliery Road yesterday evening (Wednesday) in response to a report of suspicious activity there.

Police arrested one man who was found at the premises and discovered a growing set-up supporting more than 1,000 plants.

Police found that the power supply had been bypassed with potentially dangerous electrical wiring having been installed and working with power engineers this has been made safe.

A man, aged 56, arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and abstracting electricity, remains in custody this afternoon as investigators continue with enquiries.
