Two brothers attacked in Stourbridge have been identified as Jonathan and Sebastian Jones.

John died at the scene and his brother is in hospital with serious injuries.

A murder investigation is underway in Stourbridge after one man was killed and another suffered serious injuries. Officers were called to a property on Caslon Crescent, close to the Broadway, where they discovered two men.

A man, said to be in his 30s, died at the scene while the other, in his 20s, sustained serious injuries. A major investigation was launched and police will stay at the scene ‘for the next few days’.

In a statement issued in the early hours of Saturday morning, West Midlands Police said: “We’ve started a major investigation after a man was killed and another seriously injured in Stourbridge this evening (Friday 25 February). At 7.40pm we were called by the ambulance service to a house on Caslon Crescent.

.A post mortem examination will take place in the coming days to establish the precise cause of death.”

West Midlands Police has clairifed the ages of the two men who suffered very serious injuries, before one of them died.

Police have a number of resources based at the scene for a number of days.

There is no access to Caslon Cresecent this morning. Residents are being escorted to their homes.

A house remains the focus of their investigations and there is a blue tent outside it. Officers have been handing over deliveries.

Detective Inspector Jim Colclough, from Force CID, said: “People will understandably worried about what’s happened. Right now our priority is to find the people responsible. Specialist resources from across the West Midlands have been brought in to help us.

“At the same time, we are supporting family members, collecting evidence and piecing together all of the facts so that we understand what happened and why.” An appeal has gone out for information.

Selly oak

Meanwhile today in Birmingham a man is fighting for life after being stabbed at a house in Selly Oak. Police sealed off part of Milner Road this morning after being called just before 9.30am to reports of an incident.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital, where he remains in a “critical” condition. A 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remained in custody this afternoon.

A neighbour said that screams were heard in the street earlier in the morning. A police investigation is now under way.

Neighbour Tacey Bates, 57, who had lived on the street for 38 years, said:

It was cordoned off at the bottom of the road and there was a police car in the road at the top.

That started at about 9.30am. I did hear screaming earlier this morning.

There was an ambulance here too and one of those first responder cars.

We’re not used to it, we don’t have this kind of thing happening in this street. It’s a nice area, quite quiet apart from when people are leaving the pub on a Friday night.”

A nearby resident has told us they heard what sounded like fighting outside at around 5.30am today, but said such disturbances were “normal” on what they said was an increasingly troubled location. The resident said:
