Where is missing Birmingham rugby star Levi Davis?

An England rugby player from Birmingham vanished last year, Levi Davis said in a now deleted video that he was being “blackmailed” and felt his “life was in danger.” He hastily left pals in Ibiza and headed to Barcelona in a last minute trip on October 29 2022.

But he only took a small black backpack and is without clothes or cash. His foster mum Suzanne Balfour said he could be “frightened and could be running from something” after telling a pal he “had to get out of Ibiza.”

Davis begins the clip by explaining: ” My name is Levi Davis and my life is in danger. I beg that you listen and try to understand what I’m telling you.”

He then added details of the blackmail and threats, stating that the blackmail had started after his appearance on the X-Factor in 2019. Davis also said he “went to the police and I asked them if they could help me” because “something was happening to me and wasn’t something good”.

The 24-year-old continued: ” You may ask ‘why wouldn’t you just stay away from individuals which wish you harm’. And that’s what I tried to do by starting a new life in Australia. But what happened is that I was followed there also.”

Prior to disappearing, the former Bath winger went to one of the blackmailers to “conform to their demands”. He added: “I was told by them in ways which are not direct but are absolutely true that they were going to attempt – if I said anything out – they were going to attempt to kill me, threaten my family. And they also were trying to frame me and are.”

Davis alleged that he believed they had access to medical records as they hadbrought up “things that only I have had conversations with the NHS”.

Prior to his last sighting at the bar in Spain, he had been “trying to understand their demands” adding “on the surface I had to look normal, they told me to look normal”.

Drugged?

During research for this story Scarcity was able to find a video which was deleted from social media after posting.

Levi makes claims he was drugged and filmed during a sexual interaction with a unknown person.

This has not been mentioned in the Sky news interview with his mother.

The passport of the X Factor star from Birmingham who was last seen on a busy Barcelona street has been found say police. Levi Davis who was part of Try Star on the show in 2019

The 24-year-old was last heard of when he filmed a video in The Old Irish Pub at the bottom of The Ramblas, the main pedestrian street through the heart of the Catalan capital on Friday, October 29. Levi had ordered a pint of Heineken and watched the Liverpool v Leeds game and then a live singer and then headed out of the venue.

The former Bath rugby star was spotted on CCTV at 10.05pm wearing a white t-shirt, black trousers and black and white trainers and carrying a small black rucksack heading out of the pub. He had left Ibiza ‘abruptly’ with just the backpack earlier that day according to his friend Richard Squire.

He arrived around 7pm at the ferry port. His phone signal was last picked up close to the city’s main Sants railway station, almost two-and-a-half miles away overnight on October 29. Police officers are reported to have said his passport was found a few days ago, but did not give any further details.

Catalan police are said to be investigating Levi’s disappearance after two unconfirmed sightings in the popular tourist spot. Levi’s family had been told he had been seen at Placa Sant Agusti Vell, near to the Parc de la Ciutadella, in the Born district, less than a mile from La Ramblas. it is said to be a ‘homeless area’.

And a week earlier the same witness said they saw Levi in another square near La Boqueria Market, which is on the Ramblas.

Levi’s mum has placed doubt on those sightings after visiting Barcelona to retrace her son’s steps before flying home to Birmingham.

In his last audio reported by the Telegraph shows he was in a good mood.

“This is a very worrying development because you cannot do anything in Barcelona without a passport. Besides travel, you cannot book into a hotel or even rent somewhere without one.

“We know that his phone and two bank accounts have been untouched since he disappeared and so this is another blow. There have been a few sightings of someone looking like Levi near La Boqueria Market and the Arc de Triomf monument over the last week but sadly we are not sure it’s him.”

Julie said the family ‘remain hopeful’ but after no confirmed reports of Levi since October 29 they were becoming ‘increasingly concerned’. An appeal on social media has been launched to help find Levi.

He has not used his bank cards since he disappeared and had only 40 Euros in cash on him. His mum said Levi had not left any address of where he was staying and had told her he would be ‘moving around’.

She has also told Spanish Daily ABC that Levi suffers from depression and has gone missing before, but on those occasions only for two or three days. She said: “This is not normal. He must be disorientated of confused.”

Julie said the family were grateful to the Mossos d’Esquadra – Catalan police and to the British Consulate for their help in trying to find Levi. Police are believed to have also confirmed that Levi is not in hospital, and has not been arrested as part of an “emergency” response to a missing persons report.

As well as appearing on ITV ’s Celebrity X Factor with fellow rugby players, Ben Foden and Thom Evans, in singing group called Try Star, he also appeared on E4’s Celebs Go Dating in 2020.

He speaks in 2020 during an interview with BT sport about suffering with mental health, anxiety and depression alongside a battle with alcohol after his Xfactor appearence.

Rumours

Meanwhile, an unnamed member of the Line of Inquiry investigation team last week told La Vanguardia: ‘Davis came to Barcelona fleeing from (the Somali mafia). He had adopted a frenzied lifestyle and was in a very delicate situation.

‘The truth is he was sure they were chasing him. In fact he was convinced they had tried to poison him on one occasion.

The amount he owed was put at around £102,000 – though it was not explained exactly how Levi had racked up such debts.

The Somali mafia debt claims surfaced in Spain as it emerged his family were pressing Spanish police to investigate a possible drowning in Barcelona’s port.

But investigators from Line of Inquiry told MailOnline they had reason to believe that Levi did not drown in the port and reiterated that no body has been found.

Levi’s Ibiza-based friend Richard Squire formally reported him missing a few days after his family informed West Midlands Police he had vanished.

Music alias

Scarcity also discovered that Levi Davis had continued to pursue music after the Xfactor under the name LEDA.

He released several covers on social media to songs and also released his own song only a few days before his dissapearence.

His bio on social media said “Professional Rugby player Levi Davis fuses 80s Disco and Soul with modern Pop, LEDA’s vocal ability and artistry are irresistibly infectious and a wonder to behold. Since leaving the sport to pursue his music career in full, he has featured in British Vogue and in 2019 appeared on The Celebrity XFactor.
