Netflix film makers raided interviewing dealers

An interview with a camera crew resulted in an arrest for three Limburgers. The three were arrested during the recordings for an American Netflix series in Beek.

It concerns the Dope series, a series of documentaries that shed light on the fight against drug trafficking from the perspective of police, dealers and users.

Eavesdropping The police had gotten wind of the interview because they eavesdropped on one of the three men. He is suspected of drug trafficking. When the police arrived in Beek, the interview was in full swing. The three men wore balaclavas so as not to be recognizable in the picture. A firearm and a batch of drugs were displayed on the table.

The two filmmakers have been interrogated and their three interview partners have been arrested. It concerns men (one from Beek, two from Maastricht) aged 24, 33 and 34. Two suspects were released on Thursday afternoon, only the Maastricht resident who arranged the interview is still in custody.

Sugar cubes According to his counselor Peer Szymkowiak, the man from Beek only made his room available for the filming. The gun found was a fake firearm, according to the lawyer. The batch of drugs was also largely fake. “There were even sugar cubes, but also real stuff.”

Extraordinary Lawyer Selçuk Ikiz assists one of the Maastricht citizens. “He was asked by a co-defendant to act as an extra. He did not even know that there were real drugs on the table. He is therefore free again.” Filming was for the third season of Dope. The first two seasons are already available on Netflix.
