Argument ends in shoot-out and murder in New York

A tragic and fatal shooting took place outside a Queens deli on 20.11.23 and a man was fatally wounded and died.  The argument happened at around 10 p.m., an altercation occurred outside a deli on 21st St. near 41st Ave. in the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, New York City. The victim, 25-year-old Joseph Valdez, engaged in a verbal confrontation with another man. This dispute escalated quickly when the man Valdez was arguing with pulled out a gun and shot Valdez multiple times, inflicting three gunshot wounds to his arm and upper body​​.

 

Valdez was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead​​​​. The shooter fled the scene and, as of the latest reports, remains at large. No arrests have been made, and the police have not released any suspected motive for the shooting or details about the shooter​​.

Joseph Valdez’s background adds another layer to this story. He lived in upper Manhattan and had a criminal record. In 2015, he was convicted of attempted murder in Manhattan and sentenced to up to five years in state prison. Following his release, he was arrested again in August 2020 for carrying a gun, which led to another prison term, after which he was paroled a year later
